You see that green thing that I am holding? That is the spatula of victory.
I am victorious because I finally got around to making round two of raw bread! Hooray for a day off! This time I documented the steps and even (gasp!) measured to create a recipe! It is in the dehydrator right now, but it should be ready sometime tomorrow! I’m looking forward to sharing the recipe with you all. : )
I have been meaning to make raw bread for probably about a week and a half now, and thanks to my busier than usual work and social schedule I haven’t been able to get around to it. In fact I haven’t been able to get around to much the last couple of weeks, which is no bueno when you are attempting a one hundred percent raw diet.
As some of you already know from first hand experience, raw food is all about preparation. The spirit of the boy scout occupies this lifestyle. I have been a bad boy scout. I ended up eating a couple of cooked meals this past week, because when I got home from work I found myself exhausted and without any food of substance prepared for me by my past self. Sometimes my past self is so inconsiderate of my future self. Tisk tisk.
But it’s okay. Normally I would beat myself up and declare myself a failure, but thanks to a lot of recent yoga and meditation, I have been practicing the art of self compassion.
I decided that I will try my best to be super high raw (ideally one hundred percent, but that’s a lot of pressure for a newbie!), and if I eat something cooked, oh well. I shall enjoy it fully, and then get right back to raw foods. Why am I setting my goals so high? I guess I just really want to experience what being one hundred percent raw feels like, as well as all of the nifty raw skills and what not!
My schedule is returning to the norm now, so hopefully I will be able to spend more time keeping you updated with my raw adventures!
P.S. Exciting news! I got myself a juicer (thank you craigslist!) and I have been having so much fun making juices every morning. Here is a mixture of thompson grapes, kale, fuji apple, carrot, ginger, and lemon juice! Yum!
Yes! Ali! This is great! I went raw once for 6 months and just found I function better without all the prep involved in raw fooding. Now I try to aim for about 60-70 percent. I get the majority of my raw intake through green smoothies and giant salads, both of which I love. Best of luck with this endeavor! Can’t wait to see how your raw bread turns out, that is one thing that never worked out for me! 🙂
Thank you! : )
Yeah it definitely takes a lot of prep, and part of me really loves that because I feel like that tends to trickle off into other areas of my life (boyscoutification!) but then when I lack the time or energy I really don’t like it at all! So I’m going to try my best!
And that’s all that you can do, and your body will certainly be grateful for every effort!
Best of luck w/ your raw adventures! I kind of come and go with it – yes, mostly because I haven’t done the prep work. Like Somer I get most of my raw via smoothies and salads – gotta get more creative. The bread idea fascinates me. Bring it on!
Thank you! : )
Yeah the salads and smoothies and nut cheese and nut milk I have down… now time for mastering the other aspects of the raw lifestyle! : )
